Water Quality, Testing and Preventive Maintenance

This course provides a comprehensive understanding of water quality requirements, testing methodologies, and preventive maintenance procedures critical for sterile processing environments. Students will learn about the various stages of water purification, including pre-treatment, reverse osmosis, deionization, and distillation, and their impact on instrument reprocessing. Emphasis is placed on understanding relevant standards, interpreting test results, and performing routine maintenance and calibration tasks. Through theoretical instruction and hands-on laboratory exercises, students will gain the competence to ensure optimal water system performance, maintain compliance with industry regulations, and contribute to patient safety by preventing waterborne contamination of medical devices.
